Breaking events carry the same organisational load as any other competition — entries, categories, age groups, check-in, a running order, a judging panel, results — and usually less administrative help to carry it. marX takes that part off the table. Dancers and crews register online, entries land in the start lists directly, and check-in happens before the event starts rather than at a table by the door.
Qualifier and prelim rounds are handled the way marX handles rounds anywhere: an adjudicator panel enters marks digitally, the system calculates who progresses, and the panel can differ from round to round — including replacing a judge mid-round without unpicking what has already been scored. Add a late entry after a round has started and every decision already made stays intact.
For the room itself, the live timetable, the MC view and the LED wall all run off the same data, and there is a clean broadcast output for streams. It works without venue wifi — the app is served locally and installs from a QR code — which is worth more at a breaking event in a converted warehouse than almost anywhere else.

Frequently asked questions
- Can crews register as a team?
- Yes. Crews register as teams, with the line-up recorded on the entry. If a crew's composition changes after it has been paid for, the fee and payment status are recalculated.
- How are qualifier rounds judged?
- Through the same digital panel judging marX uses for every round: adjudicators enter marks on their own device and the system calculates progression. Panels can be set per round, and a judge can be swapped mid-round without losing marks already entered.
- Does it work without internet at the venue?
- Yes. marX is offline-first — the mobile app is served locally over the venue network and installs from a QR code, so it keeps running when there is no connection to the outside world.
- Can we run it across more than one floor?
- Yes. Parallel floors and multiple halls are supported, sharing one timetable and one set of results.
- What does the audience see?
- A live LED display of the running order and results in the hall, an MC view for the announcer, and a clean broadcast output if you are streaming. Dancers see their own timetable and results on their phones.
